Cost and Scheduling Details
Session Timing and Layout
Session 1 will consist of an introductory 30 minute in-person health intake and discussion of the client’s body history. This helps me understand what patterns of repetition are present in the client’s structure, details and context of any injuries long past or present, and the overall organization of the client’s physical support system including any adaptations or compensations that his/her body may have acquired through between injuries, jobs, sports, or life in general. For this purpose, session 1 is longer than the other 9 sessions, it is 2 hours long and the rest are 1.5 hours long. The structure of each session will consist of 15 minutes for intake (discussion of anything that has changed between sessions, and physical assessments of walking, knee bends, arm arcs, etc.), the structural session is 60 minutes of hands on time, then another 15 minutes at the end of the session for repetition of the initial assessments done at the beginning of the session.
Scheduling
As a standard for clients I recommend sessions be spaced out 1 week apart from each other, which makes the Ten Series a 10 week commitment. I’ve found it to be a very good balance between the body integrating the previous session and also preparing for the next session. I understand individual schedules/finances can be fluctuating in that case the series can be sped up or slowed down, just let me know the issue and I can work with you around it no problem.
It is important to understand the client will be in a 10 step ‘transitional process’ all the way until after session 10. Each session builds on the last. So imagine each week we are putting a new ingredient into a cake and then after session 10 the whole thing goes in the toasty oven ready for icing and sprinkles. You wouldn’t, for instance enter a cake into a baking contest with only half of the ingredients in it, would you? For this reason I ask the client to please be mindful when scheduling the start of their Ten Series. If you have a wedding or a scholarship-determining performance, or Olympic tryouts, or a 6 week vacation scheduled for the middle of your Ten Series for instance at week 5, it may be more advisable to start the series after the big event.
Attire
Clients will wear or change into what we call their ‘Rolfing Uniform’ each session. This attire consists of anything the client is most comfortable in. If a client insists on wearing long sweatpants and a long sleeve shirt every time, I can still work with it. ‘Standard’ suggested Rolfing Uniform though is bra and non-thong underwear, boxer briefs, swim suit, spandex shorts, non-bulky workout shorts, t shirt or tank top, comfortable t shirt with no bra, tank top with no bra. Clothing items that I find difficult to work with are leggings longer than shorts, sports bras that constrict and hold the rib cage and shoulder girdle in place too much. If you have further questions about Rolfing Attire, we can talk more during your consult.
Cost
Rolfing Structural Integration is a short term program (10 sessions) for a much longer term (10-15 years+) benefit and investment in health, movement, and well being. For this reason the cost of Rolfing is higher than a standard massage or individualized health treatment which are generally designed upon a more temporary relief package (1-3 weeks). The cost of each session is $150 paid cash or check, $156 with credit card or debit card. The first session is $120 as a new client welcome offer, $126 if paid with card. Cash payments are lower because there is no transaction or billing fees on my end. I do take Health Savings Accounts, and can provide an invoice for you to submit on your own. I do not bill insurances myself, nor do I accept them as a form of payment. Thank you!
